The Social Security System (SSS) is on the brink of disposing of unclaimed Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) cards housed within its branches before the year concludes.
Highlighting a crucial deadline, the agency urged applicants who sought UMID cards between August 2017 and December 2020 to retrieve their IDs by December 29, 2023, marking the final call for collection.
Operating under its retention policy, the SSS will move to scrap unrecovered cards stationed at branches and those returned by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) post the specified deadline.
PHLPost employs a two-attempt card delivery system, eventually rerouting undelivered cards back to respective branches for disposal if unclaimed.
Since February 2023, the SSS ceased the acceptance of applications for regular UMID cards. However, it currently extends the UMID ATM Pay Card exclusively to SSS members with existing UMID cards or pending UMID card applications, bridging the gap for those seeking secure financial access.

In a recent development, the agency disclosed its collaboration with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to streamline services within the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). Part of this partnership entails the provision of an ATM-based SSS card for initial PhilSys applicants, enhancing the accessibility and usability of identification services.
Tracking UMID card application progress has been facilitated through the My.SSS Portal account, allowing claimants to monitor their status. Once the transaction status within their account reflects “Card Generated,” individuals are poised to collect their IDs, signifying the readiness of their UMID cards for release.
So, if you didn’t claimed yet your UMID, you must pay attention and get your card before the year ends.
