MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippines will celebrate its 125th Independence Day on June 12, 2023.

Official events will likely occur nationwide at government buildings and other key sites, including the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite Province, the historical site of the proclamation of independence.

In Metro Manila, authorities will close parts of Roxas Boulevard, as well as Katigbak Parkway, South, and Independence roads to facilitate related events and parades.

Dozens to hundreds of people will probably participate in each event, especially in urban centers like Metro Manila.

Authorities will likely heighten security at any program and demonstration sites today as a precaution because unfortunately, activists have called for demonstrations in conjunction.

Meanwhile, President Marcos will attend Independence Day rites in Rizal Park in Manila, and this year’s theme is “Independence. Future. History.”

The Department of Labor and Employment will also lead the #BatangMalaya anti-child labor campaign and various job fairs nationwide.

Last week, PBBM led the launching of the commemorative coin set for the 125th Independence Day in Malacañang.

The official logo for the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and Nationhood would appear on the official first-day cover.
