Manny Pacquiao, the renowned former senator and Philippine Army reservist colonel, expressed his full support for a recent expedition to the West Philippine Sea initiated by civilian groups. This expedition, aimed at affirming the Philippines’ territorial integrity within the contested maritime boundaries, received Pacquiao’s personal endorsement.
Addressing a command conference held in General Santos City, Pacquiao applauded the patriotic voyage organized by dedicated civilian volunteers. Their journey to Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea on December 10 symbolized solidarity with the government’s stance on the disputed territory.

In his role as the commander of the 2203rd Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade, Pacquiao convened the conference to evaluate the preparedness of Army reservists in Region 12, encompassing Soccksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sarangani, and General Santos area). The focus was on assessing their capacity to respond to disasters and emergencies, along with appraising the availability of essential equipment and facilities for their duties.

While emphasizing that the reservists aren’t designated for deployment in the West Philippine Sea dispute, Pacquiao underscored the importance of enhancing their readiness to handle potential contingencies arising from the ongoing territorial discord between the Philippines and China.
During the conference, Pacquiao generously donated uniforms and combat shoes to the 2203rd Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade personnel. Additionally, he pledged forthcoming support in the form of training facilities and vehicles for the Reserve Unit in the coming year.

Highlighting the volunteer nature of military reservists, Manny Pacquiao emphasized that they do not receive salaries or allowances from the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Instead, these individuals willingly offer their service for humanitarian and security missions, ready to defend the country’s sovereignty in times of conflict.
