In a recent statement, TAPE Inc., the production company behind GMA Network’s popular noontime show “Eat Bulaga,” vehemently denied rumors suggesting that the show would come to an end in July. Addressing the speculations, lawyer Atty. Maggie Abraham Garduque stated that there was no basis for such claims.

These rumors began circulating online following a dip in the show’s ratings, particularly on July 1, when competing programs “It’s Showtime” and “E. A. T.” premiered on GTV and TV5, respectively.

Acknowledging the lower ratings on July 1, Garduque explained that the anticipation surrounding the launch of new shows could have affected “Eat Bulaga.” However, she pointed out that the ratings had already started to rebound, with an increase of at least 0.7% by July 3 and a continued upward trend by July 5.

Garduque highlighted the success of the show’s segments, particularly praising the segments featuring Yorme (Isko Moreno) and Buboy (Villar). Additionally, the recently introduced segment called “Hey! Mr. Rider” has proven to be a massive hit among members of motorcycle associations, and viewers can anticipate appearances by celebrity riders.

In response to the rumors, TAPE Inc.’s legal team will be investigating whether any action should be taken against those responsible for spreading false information.

She emphasized that the primary objective of “Eat Bulaga” is to bring joy and support to the Filipino people. She conveyed, “The essence of Eat Bulaga lies in its dedication to the viewers, and as long as there is an audience that values and stands by it, the show will persist in delivering happiness and aid to our fellow countrymen.”

An interesting development occurred in May when Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon stepped down from TAPE Inc., prompting other long-standing hosts like Maine Mendoza, Paolo Ballesteros, Ryan Agoncillo, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Allan K, and Ryzza Mae Dizon to do the same. Consequently, “Eat Bulaga” made a comeback on the airwaves in early June, featuring a fresh set of hosts, including Paolo Contis, Betong, Buboy Villar, Mavy and Cassy Legaspi, and Alexa Miro.

Meanwhile, “It’s Showtime” had a remarkable debut on GMA Network’s GTV on July 1, swiftly gaining global attention as the top trending topic on Twitter. This marked an impressive start for the show.
